31 December 2006

Brian Murray, Chairman

Milford Selectman
Town Hall - 52 Main Street
Milford, MA 01757

 Dear Brian,

Once again we have the pleasure of reporting another quiet and productive year as a committee. Milford’s cable service continues to offer one of the highest values in the area, (lowest prices with the widest range of services).  We expect that 2007 will be an exciting year for the committee as Verizon has indicated interest in offering service in Milford. This will involve not only establishing a contract for Verizon, but also amending the Comcast contract to assure that both companies are treated equally. In the next three years we must also decide the future of the cable studios in Milford as Verizon has not shown any interest in maintaining studios in other towns and Comcast has made it a non-negotiable point in new contracts that they will not be responsible for studios.

I am pleased to advise you that we remain an active and committed committee. The committee has various levels of technical, management and labor experience and a wide range of ethnic, cultural and political backgrounds. This has continued to help us address issues quickly, gain knowledge of new areas and assure that discussion and actions are considered from a broad spectrum of views.

We have been meeting regularly on a frequency commensurate with the situations brought to our attention. The number of complaints elevated to our attention has been minimal and we have worked directly with Comcast and the resident to resolve them.

The annual grant money was received on schedule and we are happy that the grants have a wider distribution than any other year. The distributions have reached approximately $30,000 since the program has begun. This year the grants included new groups such as:

·         The Milford Senior Center

·         The Milford Junior Women’s Club

·         The Milford Historical Society

·         The Claflin Hill Orchestra

·         Milford Parents for Music

We also have continued to fund programs such as

·         The Milford High School After Prom Party

·         The Milford Special Olympics

·         School PTO efforts at Memorial

 2006 Grant Distribution

The infrastructure fund was used to establish wireless internet service in the library, update the MHS and Comcast Studios with digital editing equipment and implement a new bulletin board system for the School Channel.

We have maintained our relationship with Comcast over the year. It has allowed us to deal efficiently with issues that arise in daily operations, assure that Milford maintains it’s cost structure and best leverages itself.

We look forward to continuing to serve you and your committee.

 Sincerely,

 Al Correia
